SAN JUAN ISLANDERS SCARF KNITTING PATTERNS
San Juan Islanders’ Scarves are often described as sensual, soft, indulgent, durable, lively, exquisite… but no matter the words, all were born of sheer practicality - for the warmth and comfort of people pursuing daily life in the islands. Designed using traditional and ageless stitch patterns and knit of light weight yet strong, warm Alpaca fiber taken from our island herd, the scarves are often worn as outdoor wear but are equally suitable for indoor social gatherings.  With seafaring themes in mind, the unique look for San Juan Islander’s Scarves was conceived. Practicality has been combined with decorative and aesthetic elements to produce neck scarves that, at their best, belong to the realm of wearable art.

      100 gram alpaca yarn.
      Needles: #8
True to it's name, this scarf is absolutely, positively reversible and only uses one skein of our Alpaca yarn. The pattern is charted for 2 scarf sizes: a Narrow Scarf that is 5" by 55" and a Wide Scarf that is 7" by 42".

SCURLY KNIT SCARF

Finished scarf has no right or wrong sides.  Requires use of knitting stitch only.  Finished length will be approximately 60 inches by 3 inches wide. Ideal to knit with solid and hand painted yarns.

      Yarn: 330 yards DK weight alpaca yarn
             (110 yards for trim color, 220 yards for main color)
      Needles: US #8 or #9 circular needle



CURLY CROCHET SCARF

Finished scarf has no right or wrong sides.  Requires simple crochet skill.  Finished length will be approximately 55 inches by 2 3/4 inches wide. Ideal to crochet with your leftover lengths of yarn.
